Our Mission Statement

The purpose of the Working Group on Education (WGE) , NGO Committee, UNICEF is to educate and advocate for children's rights to survival, protection, and development, as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Millennium Development Goals, particularly the achievement of universal primary education (#2) The Working Group is committed to fostering professional partnerships with UNICEF and other NGO's to establish this mission.


Objectives

Our specific objectives are:
a) to promote healthy growth and development in the early years as the foundation for learning and
b) to foster quality educational opportunities for ALL children (preschool through adolescence), and
c) to facilitate excellence in teacher education.

We understand that to accomplish these objectives requires positive partnerships with families, communities and governments.


Current Activities

The NGO Committee on UNICEF Working Group on Education sponsored an event entitled "Voices for the Earth throughout the World" on April 26th , 2007.

The program included an international group of children who performed alongside professional performers. Preserving the environment for the young of today is the responsibility of the adults, as is their duty to nurture the love of nature and things beautiful in the early years of childhood.
